Book fairs are fairs organized collectively by various book shop keepers and publishers to showcase their books for sale and to promote their books, usually with special discounts. The best thing about book fairs is there are chances you shall meet great authors of your time in any of the book stalls and you shall get books with their autographs. Additional events that happen at the place of Book fair are the Talk shows, where great authors and Writers give a special talk about a particular theme. There are more chances for you to talk to a writer around the book fair and talking to literary people takes you to a different level of perception about this life and world and connects you deeper with the Reader’s world.

Why Book Fairs Are Important:

To know the recently published books and popular authors of your regional language, book fairs are the best place, because, it takes much time and effort for newly published books to get into the online market. Only in book fairs, the less known great works and the literature works of less known authors are open to the readers, or else people have to look into every book shop in the city, which is tiresome.

If there is much time available, talking to the book stall keepers shall give people more knowledge about many books and they introduce us to a wide range of new and unknown books. I used to buy second hand, old books from used books shop around Meenakshi Amman temple. The shop keeper, at his 70s, gives me a hand full of books, explains me about each book, why I must read them and sometimes introduces me to some great writers of his time. Every time I go there, he will make me buy at least a book.

In this world of emerging technologies, all the information you need is available online. You can get to know about best-selling books and the must-read-books online. But, you cannot feel them, as their presence online is virtual. Here is an article that says Readers Absorb Less On Kindles Than On Paper. There are still many reasons why reading physical books are better than eBooks. Likewise, even if everything is available online, book fairs are great places that give you how it feels to evolve into the world of books. Even if you are already a good reader, book fairs make you choosy about reading a book.

book-fair-importance-mychronicles007  Every year when I visit book fairs, I see a very few teenagers, people in their mid twenties in a large number, few girls crowding on the English book stalls, having their moms and dads waiting outside and adults everywhere around, looking deep into the books. It tells us something important: the need to know books and to develop the habit of reading. If you start reading, you inspire people into reading, encouraging others to live a better life and to let them understand that a Reader lives many lives.

For a man to be successful, he/she must have both physical attention and mental attention. To become the master of one’s mental attention, it requires to read and to think about it. To get introduced to books in a very short period, step on into book fairs.

Here is one of my Book Fair Experience.
